Digital Arts Cover & Layout Sketchs

I am still in the process of understanding how layouts are formed and what ways visually would be more pleasing to the eye of the audience.  I have been doing some more online research on Art Deco and where it originated and how its difference in comparison to pop art, and the rest of the modern art.  On the cover page is a sketch of the Shanghai, China skyline that I want to create digitally.

  1. I like the cover alot, very creative. The layout is basic but is a common one used by many magazines. Guess it just depends on the topic. One suggestion for the layout is to find one picture and choose several focus points from that picture and use them throughout the layout when using multiple pictures. That way the color palette stays the same and all the pictures taken from the original large picture mesh together. This was something I saw in "Before and After, How to design cool stuff" a great book for design ideas.
